Rivervale Barn wedding photography – Richard and Kitty

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

Weather forecasters are like TV talent show anchors; “You’d better make sure you vote for your favourite act, as this is the closest vote we’ve ever had, since the last closest vote ever, and the one before that where we told you it had never been closer than this and would never be as close again. Pick up the phone and vote, it’s just too close to call.” The night previous to Richard and Kitty’s Rivervale Barn celebrations I had watched the weather forecaster get almost as animated about the forthcoming weekend being the hottest on record since, well – he couldn’t remember when. After a handful of further suggestions that this would be a hot one, I packed factor 50 for the forehead, and a spare shirt; Egyptian cotton. Sun flare is good for the photographer’s soul, and you know you’ll find at least one such image in the following set.

Rivervale Barn wedding photography – Robert and Emma

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

Robert and Emma’s Rivervale wedding was heralded by sunshine; I’m gingerly packing my snow chains away as I type. This has to be a sign of things to come. I’m a big fan of gutsy monochrome photographs and for me black and white imagery plays an important role in wedding capture. It’s elegant, timeless, and uncluttered.

Rivervale Barn Tasting Day

Friday, February 12th, 2010

Now I’m certainly not a chef. I’d even struggle to describe my rather strained efforts before anything reading a gas mark as the deserved workings of an amateur cook. Modern man I may be in some arenas, but not in a kitchen. So it’s curious that over the last twelve months, I seem to have gravitated toward venue kitchens during wedding banquets. In no small part this is dedicated to Galloping Gourmet chef Joe, who has accepted my presence in his steel lined den with plenty of patience as I sat on his shoulder photographing his every move. Indeed, where chef allows me access, some of my wedding documentary albums can take on the appearance of a cook book for one small chapter. I appreciate that for many couples the food is way up there in nuptial considerations alongside ring design and choice of venue. So Rivervale Barn’s Tasting Day brought an opportunity for couples to sample prospective menus ahead of their big day and for me, well it bought some more time with Rivervale head chef Nick and special guest team (including the illustrious Joe) photographing them at work.

Rivervale Barn wedding photography

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

It’s a pretty new addition to my specialist portfolio of venues recommending me as their wedding photographer; Rivervale Barn in Yateley. As a venue they’re in their formative period and I’m delighted to be part of the ‘team.’ A handful of images from Kevin and Carley’s civil wedding at Rivervale.

Rivervale Barn wedding photography

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

It’s been good to see Rivervale Barn grow into a working wedding venue over the past year and it was even more special to shoot my first wedding there at the start of the week, Rivervale’s fourth. Double congratulations then; John and Moyra for the incredible turnaround that I’ve witnessed, from nought to sixty five thousand tiles in twelves months, and Alex and Carrie our bride and groom for the day. Rivervale has one of the finest ceremony rooms I’ve had the privilege to work in, huge floor to ceiling windows (there must be 40/50 feet of glass) that drop kicks light into the room in cathedral like fashion; a photographer’s dream.

Rivervale Barn wedding photography in Yateley

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Solid day today spent at Rivervale Barn in Yateley shooting test and stock images for this stunning new wedding venue set on the banks of the Blackwater, approximately one hour from the smoke. It’s one of the most incredible barn projects I have ever seen but don’t just take my word for it, take a peak at the images below. (65,000 reclaimed tiles by the way, now THAT takes some laying.) Owned by John and Moyra Illsley, they’ll also be your hosts for the showround if you visit. I think meeting the owners creates a special relationship when planning a wedding, without doubt. By the way, if you’re wondering who the mystery bride is, it’s Nat, our new recruit at Breathe Pictures! She recently joined the company to fulfil a retouching and photographic assisting role. Dressing you up as a bride for some test shots at Rivervale Barn may have seemed a strange initiation Nat, but I think you rose to that challenge well! (Flowers courtesy Cherubs of Reading and bridal wear from Jennies, as featured on recommended links.)
