THE LEAP OF FAITH – WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS
With many a prompt from folk that follow what I do and how I photograph, I’m organising a series of technical and business photography workshops for adults keen on making wedding photography a profession, be it primary or otherwise.
Taking the ‘leap of faith’ as my late father called it, is a daunting prospect for professionals switching profession and your success in this industry can be as much about how you deal with people as how you capture images. The workshops will investigate business practises, the client pitch, artistic and technical camera skills, the wedding day, albums and presentation.
My own experience of switching professions is key to these workshops. I’m a former radio broadcaster and programme director, and I’m fortunate to have learned my photographic skills whilst at one of the finest artistic corporations in the World; the BBC. I mothballed my cameras for more than a decade and spent a reasonable period in broadcast training and then management roles within the commercial radio and Internet channels environment. It was this latter experience fused with my artistic desires that led me to take my own leap of faith not long into this new century.
