Rivervale Barn wedding photography
Sunday, November 22nd, 2009It’s a pretty new addition to my specialist portfolio of venues recommending me as their wedding photographer; Rivervale Barn in Yateley. As a venue they’re in their formative period and I’m delighted to be part of the ‘team.’ A handful of images from Kevin and Carley’s civil wedding at Rivervale.
Lillibrooke Manor wedding photography
Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009New venue, new challenges. Historically not so new (it’s been a fixture of Cox Green for many centuries) the manor boasts a barn with seating for up to 170 champers fuelled nuptials guests. As we release the wedding to our client area, a few of my favourites from the day.
Magic and Rolf Harris
Sunday, November 1st, 2009The two don’t necessarily marry in the traditional sense of entertainment I know, but they’re worth a passing mention in one blog as I await dinner guests of a Sunday afternoon. Witnessed an amazing close up magician during Saturday’s wedding at Wasing Park called Guy Portlock. I’ve bumped into Guy a couple of times before, but I had time to chat with him this time around. I’m pretty much in awe of anyone who can make a signed playing card appear in his shoe when the last I saw it, it was firmly in the grasp of the signee. Guy makes me want to take up magic, in much the same way Paul McKenna draws me to hypnotism whenever I see his act. Anyway, before the complete left turn for an unconnected Rolfy tale, here’s my photograph of Guy taken in the evening studio. If you’re planning a wedding, this man will have your guests crowing with amazement.
So, a story about Rolf. Nat, my trustee sidekick (it’s on her business card) just texted me on her way back to HQ. “OMG, just spent the last 20 minutes talking with Rolf Harris waiting for the same train to Reading. I sang him a mantra (she’s into all that kind of stuff) and he sang me a song in Welsh about counting goats. However lovely and humble you think he is, times it by a million. True legend.” Nat, I’ve met Rolf too and he fits into the same TV folklore as childhood hero, the late Johnny Morris, whom I sat next to in a Hungerford pub eleven years ago. Now you have to be late 30 something + for this to make any sense. But I asked Johnny (Animal Magic presenter) that evening to tell me where the idea came from to put words into the animals’ mouths. He smiled and talked to me as a penguin while I ordered a pint of Guinness. I’d just turned 31. It was the best birthday present I’d ever had.
