Sky, who needs it? I do!

By nealejames | March 8, 2007

It’s a week now since NTL, Virgin Media (whatever they’re now called) and Sky, started their playground spat and disconnected me from basic Sky channels. What no Simpsons? However will I get through the week? Oh well, I still have my footy I suppose, my movies and various other bits and bobs. But if this animosity between the two most powerful media moguls continues, the Richard and Rupert show could undoubtedly see me unplugged from anything vaguely worth watching on British TV, and plunged firmly back into the televisual dark ages. It won’t be premiership footie of a Sunday afternoon, but first division tiddlewinks and world championship Ludo. Course, if the cable does have to meet it’s maker in our household, we now have five terrestrial channels, so there is I suppose a dim cathode ray of light at the end of the tunnel and a little more choice. There’s BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, Channel Big Brother and Channel 5; available on a sunny day with no little or no wind, if you stand in a bucket of water on your left leg holding the aerial in a northerly direction whilst humming the national anthem, backwards.
