Zealey

Monday, August 21st, 2006

zealey64 1One of my favourite shoots at Breathe Pictures featuring eclectic musician Zealey. It shows how simple ideas can be so effective. I was looking for a tidy idea to demonstrate Zealey’s diverse style and imagination. Manager Andy Thompson suggested the concept of an additional limb to unbalance the image. And so we produced this picture.

Body painting at Breathe

Tuesday, August 8th, 2006

[photopress:150_facepaint.jpg,full,alignleft]Creatively speaking, this was one of those really rewarding days. Berkshire based body and face painter Emma Cammack joined me in the studio for what felt like a ‘paint-a-thon.’ There are three pictures to demonstrate the day’s work. The concept and brief was to produce a series of pictures to melt our models into an engaging background. Each image took two hours to paint, four plus hours to retouch and edit on the computer – but just five minutes to shoot. After two hours of being painted with no room for physical movement, you certainly wouldn’t want a half hour shoot! Thanks Emma, you’re incredibly talented… and thanks Alex and Nana, you had the patience of Saints.

Richard Benyon’s exhibition portrait

Monday, August 7th, 2006

richardbenyon

MP for Newbury, Richard Benyon, sat for our Best of Newbury portrait exhibition this morning (in 2009/2010 title changing to Community). Whatever your political persuassion, the point of this exhibition is to portray those who work, live or contribute to life in Newbury and West Berkshire. In Parliament, he is one of fourteen MPs on the influential Home Affairs Select Committee, which holds the Government to account on police powers, terrorism, immigration, the courts, drugs policy, and anti-social behaviour. For more information about Community, please contact us at Breathe Pictures.

Odis Palmer shoot

Sunday, August 6th, 2006

He got down to the last twenty in X Factor, so now he’s seeking that elusive recording contract. Personally, I think he’ll achieve it. Odis Palmer; talented, harmonic, intelligent, approachable, humble, giving, humourous – these are certainly not adjectives you usually associate together in the same sentence with a musician who has almost touched the golden spittle of an envelope ripped open containing a recording contract offered by Simon Cowell. Today I shot his new album cover, reference image. I hope you achieve the success you deserve.
